Hidden Under The Paint

My home town here in New Zealand has an old Bank building which is now a café/bar. Over the last 20 years that I have been collecting insulators, I have driven past it, walked past it, stood outside it, even had a boozy BS session in it, but until a short while ago was oblivious to this arrangement hidden under the paint and shadows high up on the front of this magnificent building. I had missed it all these years, but when you look at the pics, you can see how camouflaged it is. I believe the insulator to be an aqua Brookfields CD 162. I actually found one of these on the family farm 20 years ago while doing a clean up job for my brother who was running it at the time. Glass insulators like this are a rarity here in NZ. Our usual pin size is 5/8ths so a spiral 'spreader' was attached to the pin to take the CD 162. The empty pin to the right shows what I mean. The fuse housing looks similar to a 'Moloney' I have here, but could be anything under that paint.

I am forever looking at buildings etc in the hope of finding something interesting, and this gave me a buzz when I realised it was here, so close to home. See the next series of pics for the details.
