A few years ago, I was visiting Northern California and decided to go on an insulator hunt. The older line was dismantled, and there were no poles remaining, but there were a few insulators lying around. Here is a Hemingray made no name CD 147 spiral groove that I found. Even though they are common, I always keep the ones that I find. On this hunt, I found several spiral grooves (this being the most intact) and some CD 162 H.G.Co.s, one of which had some small amber streaks. For a long time, all the broken pieces sat in a cardboard box in my backyard until I finally decided to clean up the pieces, assemble them (the shattered pieces from 10 or so different insulators were mixed up), and glue them. I ended up with some decent specimens. |
