On the left is a CD 145 EIN sim. [205] (F-Crown) [Backwards] 14(14)/(Arc)W. BROOKFIELD/45 CLIFF ST/N.Y. {MLOD} SB (according to Lee Brewer's excellent book,* this is SN 14b) in Yellow Olive Green. Damage includes several fleabites and pecks scattered about the outside, all shown (click on View Original for more detail); three-quarters of the inner skirt is gone; and there is a halo above the pinhole. On the plus side: the embossing is bold, the base is out-of-round, and the color is spectacular in a sunshiny window!

On the right is EIN sim. [210] (F-Crown) 18/(Arc)W. BROOKFIELD/45 CLIFF ST/N.Y. (R-Crown) (Arc)PAT'D NOV 13TH 1883/FEB 12TH 1884 {MLOD} SB (SN 18d.1*) in very fizzy, very Blue. A ˝" white scratch on the rear skirt below 13TH is the only thing keeping it from mint. And speaking of bold embossing, this one is supremely crisp and clear front and back—as if it were the first piece out of a newly-engraved mold. There are also a few bits of potstone floating around for added character.

Put this colorful pair in your window for just $50 plus postage.
