While I sit here, bored in the midst of yet another Canadian winter, I lament the warmer days of the year past. I managed to get out for a number of hunts last year, and I thought it was about time I posted at least a couple from one of them. A friend of mine and I spent a day in the autumn tracing the route of an old overland line, in the hopes of finding some glass left in the woods years before. This line was abandoned probably some 70 years ago, judging by the lack of ROW visible anywhere we checked it. It seemed to be untouched, at least in placed, as the occasional piece of glass was spotted poking up through the loamy soil in the woods at the next much-anticipated pole site. I still don't have much experience with hunting phone circuits, so when a 1678 and a Brookfield-made No. 2 Transposition were suddenly showing side-by-side as though someone had placed them there for me, I was a little excited to say the least! I haven't seen too many of the older transpositions in the wild, so this was a welcome sight! I wonder if there are any [id=493329023;more out here]? |
