A true porcelain classic in an unusual glaze for these... Normally these come in two colors sandy blond tan or dark butt ugly brown this one is more of a medium mottled brown with pretty tan highlights . There is one thin flat chip about 1/2" long on the shoulder of the lower wire groove on one side and two thin flake chips out of the tie wire groove on the underside of the crown . There is also a glaze flake in the conductor groove at the firing rest . All the chips have been repaired . otherwise the insulator is whole and undamaged . No fractures or other issues. The crack in the upper groove you see is a factory defect and not use related damage . Insulators of this type saw service in the Boston subway and at several large industrial sites like steel mills in the Midwest for very heavy DC cables from what I have been told . Asking $300 (sale pending ) plus actual postage. Shipped insured via Fed Ex or can be delivered to a west coast show or the Denver national in person . |
