This photograph shows NW&BIT line construction in progress, along with some new building construction in downtown Vancouver Canada circa 1891. The shorter poles on the right hand street, support the original NW telephone lines. Note that white porcelain spools were used, along with very light gauge wire (not visible in this shot). The new poles stand beside the old ones, and are awaiting the installation of insulators and wire. These would be typically populated with pony insulators (CD 102, probably NW&BIT embossed). The poles on the left belong to another utility, and have white porcelain beehives, and CD 136.4 Canadian Boston insulators on the crossarms.
