Wanted to end 2016 the same as 2012 by going insulator hunting, so I revisited the Safe Harbor trestle. Here it is as viewed from the parking lot of the adjacent dam. The upper trestle was built in 1906 for the PRR's Atglen Susquehanna branch and is currently abandoned. The lower bridge is for the Port Deposit branch and is still in use by NS. There are plans to referbish the old trestle and include it in the rail trail. |
