An ice storm struck western Oregon yesterday (Dec 14). Air temperatures hovered right at freezing. Precipitation fell as rain and froze on contact with tree limbs, vegetation, and power lines. A half-inch thick coating of ice covered everything. Trees, branches and power lines came down all over town, resulting in numerous power outages and plenty of property damage. We fared OK at my house. The next few photos show some of the damage I noted on a walk through my neighborhood.

In this photo, note the parking meter. It's little LED lights were still blinking, waiting for somebody to feed it some change!
