I've seen quite a few of the larger-size submarine/xmas-tree insulators (which were actually coil supports on an enormous experimental shipboard radio), but did you know they came in two sizes? The smaller one is far rarer. It's obviously made by a different manufacturer than the large one: the overall quality is not as good, and the dark chocolate brown glaze is very different. No damage that I can see, but the glaze coverage is not 100% so there are white spots where you can see the clay body (the bases are unglazed on both sizes). The big ones have a navy ink stamp on the base, but there's no good place to stamp the base of the smaller ones, so no stamp. The big ones usually go for about $125; I want $200 for this one. Postage is NOT included, and it weights 14 3/4 pounds, so either it's going to be expensive to ship, or I can possibly hand it off to someone for delivery to a West Coast show, for a small fee (to be determined, and which goes to the deliverer, not to me). |
