Found this in my early days of collecting. Back in May of 1999. (Yes, those were my early days) Was walking the tracks in DOWNTOWN Manhattan, KS and spotted what looked like a green star beehive so I wrote down it's location for possible retrieval after seeking permission. Just two poles down I spot another one and write down it's location. I come back later with my binocs and zoom in with the 40X zoom lens and lo and behold I can read petticoat on the skirt. So I call up my good friend Gary Kline and tell him what I found. I tell him I can get a picture for him so he can tell the color because at this time (believe it or not) I wasn't very good with colors. So I take my dig cam (with no zoom lens)and binocs to the poles on a nice sunny day and for some weird reason I get the idea to use the binocs as a zoom lens and by gosh it works. (The picture was taken from the ground about 40 ft from the pole) Sent him the picture and he says if you can get them safely (i.e. get permission or get a signal maintainer switch them out for you) then do it. So I found a signal maintainer and bribed him with beer. ( It does work!) One beehive was mint and the other one was near mint. My best find ever.
