Went to a few garage sales yesterday and my first stop was a guy who listed his insulator collection as one of the things he was selling. Cool. I'm thinking maybe some nice western Montana stuff. Well, the collection was 18 pieces total and it was all western MT stuff, mostly commons, but did include a nicely milky Hemingray CD 113, (some damage), and a Whitall Tatum CD 128 with a definite pink tint, (mint). Then there was this E_14 B. I was pretty surprised to see something like this as these are not from anywhere near Montana as far as I know. Due to the number of people at his sale I could not get any info on where he got it.

This piece has been around the block a few times. Edges are rough on the wire groove and it's a pretty rough pour to begin with. But the heavy opalescence really impresses me. Once you get a few feet away you can hardly see the damage because of the brilliant shimmer of the glass. I don't know much about these but this is the best opalescence I've seen. Check out the picture. Do you call this dark or normal or heavy? Whatever it is it's another great character piece that will sit on the window shelf where I can enjoy it. Thanks for looking.

Picture taken with just natural light, no backlighting. By the way, no comments/opinions on the opalescence as of 1:00 mountain time on Monday the 25th. Over 150 hits, somebody out there in insulator land must be familiar with these and have an opinion or are they that scarce.
