It is known that the Southern Massachusetts Telephone Company operated in most if not all Cape Cod communities with telephone service around 1900. Perhaps Orleans was one of them. One-by-one, the So. Mass. Tel. Co. sold their exchanges to NET&T Co. throughout southeastern MA and Cape Cod until they were fully absorbed by them in 1938.
