I have been watching the poles beside my house for 2 decades now for their removal and gradually over the years, one by one, wires were being snipped but the 440 V wires for the signals and the large cables were left up and connected. I have also had my eye on 3 H.G. CO. beehives that I knew were heavily fizzy as well in among 15 clear Hemi-42s. Last week CSX finally started their crossing reconstruction at the London road crossing and lo and behold, they had the power company cut the last of the wires on ALL of the crossings but left the poles standing. So I went over to the crossing where the HGs were only to find 15 clear Hemi-42s and no HG beehives. So apparently someone within the power company had their eyeballs on those HGs as well. SOOOOO disappointed.... In any case, at one other crossing a pole was down beside the road. This pole apparently had rotted through enough that when the wires were cut, it came down on its own. On it were 4 porcelain 440 volt signals and 15 brittle H.K. Porters. I snagged one of the porcelains and what they were using on this line was a mix of Thomas gray/black signals and these P.P. Inc chocolate brown signals. This pole had only P.P. signals. Anyhow, nothing rare but will make another nice addition to my "personal finds" collection. |
