By the 1930's all the New Lexingtons were long gone and replaced with JD's and other random multiparts of the era I found clear evidence of this along the line in wooded areas all these early lilyshell designs were failures from lighting flashover destruction and poor quality ceramic materials as well as cement joint expansion cracking the shells . the inner skirts of New Lexington pieces were prown to puncture because of problems in thread formation leaving micro fractures in the porcelain at the heads of the skirts |
