My local flea market opened for the season today, so I just had to go. Glad I did! Check out the CD 731 No Embossing with MLOD. This is the first threadless that I've ever found at a flea market. It's about factory mint, too, with only a couple of open base bubbles. There's also a wisp of milk in the skirt. The little Model T/A aftermarket ashtray in yellow and cobalt slag glass is also virtually mint. These seem to be quite popular among insulator collectors for some reason, and I'm no exception. Finally, the CD 134 G.E.CO. appears to be an unlisted color. That is, I figure it has to be EIN [015] (F-Skirt) G.E.CO. SB as it has no crown embossing, either front or rear; there is no evidence of any blot out on the skirt; and it is clearly not the Pennycuick style. So that leaves just [015], as above, or [020] (F-Skirt) G.E.CO. {Brookfield product} {MLOD} SB, and while I would bet dollars to donuts that this piece was made by Brookfield, there is no MLOD—it's a three-piece mold. The latest Price Guide lists the [015] in only Aqua and Light Aqua. EIN [020] is also listed in those colors as well as Light Green and Green. This one is certainly one of the greens . . . and so, not listed. Oh, and it has the original narrow gage iron tie wire for added attraction. Each of these came from a different vendor at the market, and the threadless came out only after I asked the seller if he had any other insulators besides the ones out on the table (a Light Aqua CD 297 with a rock and a Dark Aqua CD 162.1 Brookfield narrow dome with SDP, both of which came home with me). I've said it before: they're out there if you look for 'em. Inquiries welcome. |
