Closer still, I spun the lower piece around so both embossings could be seen. A sight not that uncommon around here 50 years ago, glass pintypes on J-hook pins used as strikes for a subscriber drop. And it wasn't unusual to see C.G.I.Co. ponies in use around here either. What is unusual is seeing these insulators used in a house strike application, and more unusual still, is that they were still there waiting to be found in 2016. Two identical, near colorless PT variant C.G.I.Co.'s left in place when the wires were taken down. The 94-year-old owner of the house said the house was built in 1915, coinciding perfectly with when these insulators were made. The pins are a Pierce or Hubbard "spring" type J-hook. |
