A 1920s 2-part OB multi recovered from a recently retired lattice tower. This was the middle insulator from the 23.9kV circuit that was below the two 66kV suspension lines. Looks like the painters got a bit careless with the aluminum paint - and which may have been a factor in the flashovers this poor thing suffered during its service life. The two outer insulators fared much better - one was another OB but almost a nice uniform tan but it was fairly tight to its pin (temps were dropping as it was close to sunset), and the other looks to be an unmarked Pinco 2-skirter. Went back the next day and ALL the mud was gone - blew a chance to get some Baum Patent disks and 1940s Lapp disks!!! |
