Up for sale this evening is a group of five great variously-coloured Diamond ponies. All of these are the type 2 [060] embossing CD 102, but it seems like every one is a slightly different mould. I read somewhere once that a mould inventory completed by the Diamond-Flint Glass Company sometime in the early 20th century indicated there were something like 50+ moulds in stock used to make this style. Maybe that helps explain why there are so many mould variations and various colours in this one style! Each of these pieces is a different colour. From left to right is: blue aqua, icy greenish steel grey colour, ice green, dark green, dark olive amber. The olive amber example at far right is a leaner, with the front skirt being a bit shorter than the rear. As well, it has a pretty nifty air pocket on the inside of the skirt! The ice green example is unusually bubbly. A couple of these pieces have some great character! Condition of these pieces is, from left to right: Blue aqua example is VNM with just a scratch on the left side of the dome. Icy greenish steel blue example is NM, with just a 3/16" open bubble on the base, a 1/8" rough patch on the front base edge, and three dome-top fleabites. Bubbly ice green example is in good shape but has a few scattered pings. At the risk of making this piece sound far worse than it is, it has: a 3/16" rear base flake, a 1/8" wide by 1/4" tall flake flake on the rear skirt, a 1/8" flat flake on the front left lower-most skirt, a 1/8" flake on the rear upper wire ridge, and a 1/8" ping on the right crown, right above the the mould line. Dark green example has four small, 1/4" base flakes, and one 1/2" by 1/8" flat base flake on the left. The right side of the crown and the left rear crown have 3/16" fisheyes. Dark olive amber piece is VNM. I can't see any flakes or anything wrong with it. A gorgeous colour and a great condition example, to boot! I'm asking $26.00 US plus shipping for this mini-collection of slighty less-than-common colours. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before.
