Up for sale this evening is a pair of Dominion 42s... but not just any Dominion 42. The example at left is a fairly common light green example that is nothing to write home about, but is nonetheless a nice example for anyones collection. The example at right is something a bit out of the ordinary. The colour of this piece is what collectors call gingerale. As a colour, it consists of an odd combination of light yellowish green and light straw. This odd colour seems to come about when a two-tone of light green-coloured glass surrounds the pinhole while light straw-coloured glass occurs around the outside of the insulator. Once upon a time I found a broken example of this colour which was nicely split in two right down the centre and it showed the colour separation nicely. In any case, it's no common colour and fits beautifully in a lineup of Dominion 42s if you don't already have it. Both examples shown here are the [010] embossing with no numbers around the Diamond D.

The light green example at left is in VNM condition, with a tiny 1/8" by 1/16" ping on the front upper wire ridge, and a few fleabites on the rear skirt. The outer base edge has a bit of roughness in a couple spots.

The gingerale example has a 1/2" by 1/8" bruise on the rear inner skirt, a few fleabites on the right upper wire ridge, and a 1" wide NGM very light fan bruise just behind the right mould line in the rear below the fleabites. This sounds much worse than it is. Normally I despise this sort of damage, but this particular bit is so light that it isn't even visible from most angles. I couldn't capture it very well in the photograph, but the middle image was taken from an angle that shows all the damage.
