Ward and Mark Reilly shared their amazing find on the Threadless Insulators Facebook group on November 25th.

"Hello, and thanks for letting me join this group...I mostly collect military artifacts, but I have found quite a few insulators in my quest for relics. I wanted to share this find my son Mark made last week in a creek in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, while we were relic hunting at a Civil War site near our home on Highland Road, the oldest road in the city...it's a "Block Glass Telegraph Insulator", from 1847-ish, and apparently extremely rare and historical. I knew it was some sort of insulator when he found it, but I had no idea just how rare it actually was....we got really excited after researching it. Possibly the first of this type ever found in Louisiana(?)."
