One day last week I received a face book message from a long time friend that works for a local auction there was going to be an estate auction Saturday. He didn't really know what they were only that they all looked the same color to him. I agreed I would at least take the ride right down the street from Lebanon Valley Speedway for a look Saturday morning. As you can see in my pic I made it. This was actually the first time a registered and got a number to be in on the bidding. So I raised my card that said 253 up more then once and was a little embarrassed when the auctioneer told me my present bid was still good to go. It ended up going as well and the rest is history. Well except that I traded a Brookfield 102 pony for a Hawley from another fellow who won half a crossarm with six ponies on the wooden pegs. He wasn't a collector and could care less what the insulators said on the skirts. Btw, the enamaled pan may be worth more the the insulators you can see. But that isn't so important. The experience and fun I had is worth much, much more to me. Sorta like being at a big insulator show at Springfield. Now I'm getting ready to go to a bottle show up in Albany, NY that used to have many insulator dealers. I've been going to this show about five years and only once there was an insulator guy set up. Check back in later today of early this week to see how I made out. |
