On the right are electric lighting circuits with a spanwire street light that once illuminated one of this New York State community's residential intersections. The device above the fixture is a large pulley with electrical connections within it for lowering the fixture to ground level for maintenance. A crank-winch mechanism (hardly seen) on the pole on the right was employed for this then-commonplace but interesting maneuver. |
