A while back, our online auction site - 'Trade Me' - threw up this auction for 14 Large Insulators. They had to be picked up obviously and as people were asking the question that, if they didn't sell in one lot, could they then be relisted in groups of 2 or 3. Rob and I immediately recognised them as early Nth American Multi's of which we are quite fond of, so we won the auction then planned an 'Insulator Holiday' around picking them up. The seller was happy to wait a few months. As Rob needed a new trailer he got on the internet and found what he wanted in Christchurch. We had other people to see, plus the antique shops etc, then picked up the trailer and loaded on the 16 (seller found 2 more) multis. We ended up with quite a load including two strings of 7 nice green 'Isorex' glass discs which came from a second hand shop nearby. The load slowed the car down a bit, but we got home safely with no breakages. A thoroughly enjoyable 8 day trip. We learnt a bit of new information as we saw heaps of interesting stuff up on the lines still in service and made some new contacts which might bear fruit in the future. Next few pics show the spoils.

This pic is the 'auction pic' that got us excited.
