A beautiful yellow green CD 267 embossed N.E.G.M.CO. and on the reverse PATENTED. JUNE. 17. 1890 This is one of the famous insulators from the Boston elevated transit system. What makes this one unique is that it was not stolen! Bought from the demolition contractor more than 25 years ago. I don't have to tell you that it is a beauty. There are two things that I do have to explain. There is an internal crack that starts at the base of the inner skirt and travels to the base of the treads, follows the thread line about 1 1/2" and returns to the base of the inner skirt. There is a very good chance that this happened during demolition. In the 25+ plus years of captivity the crack has not expanded. The other thing is what appears to be a grinding along the side of one ear. I have seen this on other cables but never thought too much about it. Actually this is caused by the carbide cutting blade used by the contractor to cut the cable. Just got a touch too close to the insulator. I will post some extra photos to show the insulator in detail I'm asking $235 plus actual shipping cost. Check, MO or PayPal no fee. If you are not completely satisfied just send it back. |
