Inside the light-colored wooden box mounted on this pole were connections serving this Kansas community's phone open wire customers. They were combined via terminal blocks in the forementioned box to insulated bundled cables that led to the central office building seen immediately behind. A platform on the pole is also visible for maintenance and circuit testing.
