Chicago, IL 1871 Fire, Telegraph Pole Still Standing

I believe this pole along with many others with a lot of telegraph wires (a Chicago main line) of the c.1870 period were supported by under-crossarm "ramshorn" insulators as they led into the city's business districts. The crossarms upon these poles for some unknown reason were of a descending length as they led down from their poletops.
