The latter was owned by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company and I believe it made connections with the city of Brockton, about five miles to the west. Whitman is about 20 miles southeast of Boston. A very early open-style electric arc street lamp illuminated this intersection. The large brick building in the center of this image still stands and looks almost exactly the same as well as the cottage-roof-style building (which always has been a store) that is on the right. |
