This is the rare wide lower skirt version of the Fred Locke "Hudson Type" used in eastern central New York State on the historic Spier Falls- Schenectady transmission line only about half a dozen of this type exist . and overall only about a dozen insulators from this line are known in any condition part of the top skirt was damaged and restored fortunately other then chips all the porcelain is there The centre skirt as fractures on one side but nothing is missing . The base is mint. The insulator is marked with Marking 7-1[id=437515578] The insulator comes with it's original pin and a sample of the original line conductor . The pin is a 1" thread pin with a 1 3/8 adaptor as was originally used. These insulators remained in service up to only about 1915. At this point the line has been pretty well hunted and there seem to very little one can still find of it . |
