The forementioned town is in central Massachusetts. It is believed this was an east-west AT&T phone open wire connection between Boston and Albany, NY. Rumor has it that it stood in place until the early 1930s and was built around 1885....originally with quite a variety of oddball, not-yet-standard toll-line glass insulator styles, notably the Am. Tel. & Tel. Co. "pilgrim hats"; Brookfield beehives without an inner skirt (I forget the CD numbers here..) and other odd ducks as found by collectors in the 1970s and 80s along this route (the unusual ones in nearby dump areas mostly in western Massachusetts). |
