Early east-west (1890s) telegraph line probably built in the 1890s connecting Boston with Albany, NY and points beyond. With no doubt these iron wires were supported by CD 145 CREB (CRown Embossed Brookfield) insulators. Given the fact they were of the Western Union Standard when major line rebuilding with 10-pin crossarms and hard-drawn copper wire took place in the early teens with new cedar poles, no doubt the re-usable CD 145s were put in place upon the upgraded line along with "standard" insulators of the time which included plenty of CD 145 "B" beehives and CD 152 Hemingray No.40s. |
