I work for Dominion Virginia Power and this photo was posted recently on Dominion's safety site. The safety message was intended to help keep kids safe around electricity and power lines. A very noble cause, however, the two young ladies involved were not (bless their hearts) well versed in modern power line construction. I had never seen a concrete pole quite like this one (check out the cap) and I certainly had never seen a concrete crossarm. This construction is something that, as far as I know, has never been used by DVP. I am not even sure this is an American power pole. It could be foreign. If it is American I would like to have one of those little multipart insulators for my collection. Does anyone on ICON have any knowledge of this type of pole construction? Any information would be helpful.
