Note the close view of the telephone "alley arm" on the far left. Phone openwire circuits looked like the rule on the left side of this unpaved road that passed through this Vermont village 110 years ago; complemented by electric distribution lines along the right. Quite possibly double-circuit, three-phase high voltage transmission wires were strung atop this line judging by the type of its pole-line construction and large glass insulators.
