It is an unknown as to who scrapped out many of the lines original 175 towers. The heavy cement foundations and some of legs remain at the non-urbanized tower sites. Most likely, the towers were cut and scrapped by private interests after the line was far abandoned. This theory was devised as the static wire still exists in the trees and along the ground painting a picture that towers stood long after abandonment. TVA left the line standing with the static wire as a marker for the ROW after abandonment and the signs such as the towers removed and static wire left between sites serves as a guide that it was not a TVA removal.
