Why does this U-630 have an adapter cemented in the pin hole?

This porcelain insulator appears to have an adapter cemented in the pinhole. The pinhole of the adapter is about 5/8 inch. Just wondering what application would have required this adapter.

Several people have suggested that it may have been used in a power plant, but this is a small insulator, I think a U-630 cable top. Would that have been used in a power plant?
