A lineman for the South Shore Interurban was selling his railroad stuff including insulators on January 31, 2015 in La Porte, IN. That was the same day as the Crown Point, IN swap meet for the Greater Chicago Insulator club and I ended up going to the auction. Robert Winkler originally owned this multipart and sold it to the lineman at some point. He was pretty determined to get it back but got bid up to around $100 before giving up. Luckily the bidding was for a choice of insulator and the winning woman took a blue JD multipart looking piece instead. In the next round, Robert got the piece for about $20. Sometimes it pays to lose.
