A lineman for the South Shore Interurban was selling his railroad stuff including insulators on January 31, 2015 in La Porte, IN. That was the same day as the Crown Point, IN swap meet for the Greater Chicago Insulator club and I ended up going to the auction. I bought this piece. Lots of embossing on a single ridge Mershon patent insulator. It had a slice under the umbrella but I bought it for about 20% of book value.
