A single-circuit, three-phase sub-transmission circuit was strung atop this stretch of utility pole line in the forementioned Maryland community. These wires and their insulators were supported by extended or "alley arm" crossarm construction so that their high voltage was at a safe distance from the adjacent buildings. Beneath were lower-voltage distribution circuits for area customers. Towards the right is a short metal pole that appears to have perhaps supported DC trolley service cables. |
