Earliest standard crossarm construction by New England Telephone & Telegraph Company employed six pins as seen here, typically for rural service. This is a rare view of four six-pin crossarms per pole utilizing this late 1880's to c.1910 crossarm construction (most views show one or two arms). After around when this picture was taken, ten-pin crossarms were standard construction by NET&T Co. and probably by a lot of independent phone companies that operated here in the Northeast.
