The new pole is on the left and was of black (sweet!) creosote. The electric utility crossarms atop it also look like they were similarly wood-treated. Also note the shiny metal crossarm braces. To the right is an old weathered (cedar?) pole supporting some telephone subscriber circuits. In addition paired phone cable is in view. It is possible when this changeover was complete the latter cable replaced the openwire.
