Primary (higher voltage, typically 1,100 or 2,200 volts in those days) wires ran along the upper crossarm here with the series circuit for local incandescent street lights. One of the latter of the gooseneck radial wave design can be seen on the pole on the far left. Circuits for customers ran on the lower crossarm and at about 110 volts.
