York Beach, ME c.1940, Old Cars, Electric Distribution Lines

This always has been a favorite beach among New Englanders in southern Maine. Here we see plenty of old cars in a good-sized parking lot for bathers on what looks like a hot summer day. A large round incandescent floodlight (typically these were made of copper or brass) was mounted on the utility pole you see so that evening visitors could safely make their way back to their cars.

Added note: I am not sure what the majestic hotels in the background were known as. However I as I recall few if any are still standing.
