This section of Quincy, Massachusetts still has a lot of its homes built around 1900 through the teens. Wollaston is a seashore section of Quincy, about 5 miles southeast of Boston. Many of the original electric distribution poles and lines stood there until the 1980s before upgrades. The older poles often had square distribution transformers, some with glass "squirell guards" protecting the primary side of their potside terminations. Originally a lot of the streets were cobblestone. "Digger Dave" from Massachusetts Electric affirms this having set many replacement poles in this area. He also frequently mentioned that some of the older poles stood up only on account of the wires and cables upon them (that was during the 1980s)..."wavering a bit in the breeze when atop one of them..."
