Up for sale is a B.T.Co. CD 121 with a very unusual colour (definitely stronger in green shade than this photo shows). I've owned many examples of this embossing style over the years, but I can't say I've seen too many in this rather strange shade of green (for the record: "mint green" is a completely fabricated colour name which came from my own disillusioned head and is in no way a reference to any actual price guide listing). This one came from a collection of insulators which originated from a lineman in London area earlier this year. All the insulators in it were picked locally, and there were 4 of this same style in it. All four were damaged and covered in dirt and sand, having apparently been dug up at some point. In any case, a cool colour that isn't seen too long. The colour is made all the better by the thick, crystal ball-like glass through which light easily passes and refracts this unusual colour, and the presence of some streaky amber swirls throughout the skirt and . There is just over an inch of dome glass at the top of the pinhole of this one, as well as nearly 1/2" on the sides of the pinhole. This is one heavy piece of glass! The condition of this one leaves something to be desired, probably from it having been buried. There is a 1/4" flake on the rear upper wire ridge, and a 1/4" white scratch on the rear base. There is a bit of scratching on the front dome and one sizable scratch running right behind the right mould line up the skirt to the lower wire ridge. As well, there is a 1/8" ping on the right side of the front skirt near a bit of scratching, and a 1/8" ping on the rear crown. The condition isn't the best, but it isn't as bad as it sounds, either. I'm asking $10.00 U.S. plus shipping for this example of a rather odd colour. The condition isn't great, but it will hold a place if you're interested in tolls or Canadian telephone insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. As mentioned, I will be at the Mid Ohio show this weekend, as well - if you'll be there, then save the shipping! |
