Nice original 1930's New England Telephone & Telegraph Bell System flange porcelain sign. The sign measures approximately 16 inches long by 16 inches tall. The letters on the sign are slightly raised indicating that it is an older sign. Overall it is in great condition. I don't see any chips on the front or the back of the sign. There is some moderate wear and light scratching on the surface of the sign. The surface of the sign is moderately discolored on both sides. The white porcelain on both sides shows many spots of yellowing from age and the blue has many moderate spots of wear. It looks like these spots could be improved with a good cleaning. The edges of the sign have moderate roughness on all edges. The flange of the sign has chips / enamel worn through spots around the holes on both sides (each of which is approximately the size of a dime). There is a large spot of porcelain worn off / chipped around the lowest hole on the flange. The corner of this chip affects a small portion of the sign. There are many spots of green paint on the flange, likely from when someone tried to paint around the sign when it was on a building. Some of the spots of green paint are also on the edge where the flange meets the sign. I have many more pictures available if interested. Asking what I have into it, $200 plus shipping. |
