This absolutely awesome VVNM (most would say "mint for an EC&M") cobalt blue EC&M measures just short of five inches tall (4 3/4 inches) and is one of the two tallest cobalts in collections today that I'm aware of. This one is an "F" mold, and the extension on the base is over one full inch! The dome glass is amazing! This insulator was found many decades ago in the wild north of the border by a Canadian non-collector and sold only after many years in the finder's hands in an auction. This is by far THE nicest cobalt EC&M I've ever handled. Ever. Condition is actually VVNM (shallow 1/4 inch paper thin flake up from the base and shallow 3/8 flake and bruise at the base, both on the rear of the insulator and can be barely detected in the photos). Minor high-point wear on the mold lines. All flaws are mentioned for accuracy, but are all perfectly normal flaws found on the vast majority of EC&M's. Tiny flea bites elsewhere, one on the base and the others around the wire ridge are almost not even worth mentioning. This is ONE INCREDIBLE COBALT EC&M and if you are the fortunate purchaser, not only will you have one of the tallest EC&M's known, but you will surely have one of the best, height notwithstanding, if not THE best cobalt blue known. Surface texture, internal bubbles, dome glass, rich, deep color, condition, provenance, this one has it all! This first photo shows the insulator next to a WFG toll (not for sale) and a "C" mold 4 1/4 inch tall aqua EC&M (kind of a standard height for EC&M's -- again not for sale -- shown for comparison purposes only). Other photos of each quadrant and the base follow. What's a fair price for this spectacular piece? Well, the market will decide, obviously, but I'm offering it today for $8,499 shipped --that is a $500 price reduction -- and insured via USPS priority mail. First email that says, "I'll take it," gets to put this great insulator on their shelf. Personal check or money order is preferred. Thank you for looking! |
