For the McLaughlin or color collector, the mustard McLaughlin No. 16 toll is THE most sought after insulator to complete a line-up. This color is difficult, at best, to capture in a photograph, but suffice to say, when you see it, you just say, "WOW!" These are especially standouts among the darker, more blackglass shades, but I'm in awe about what McLaughlin produced color-wise for newer glass when the other companies at the time were gravitating towards clear and aqua. I still recall seeing some of the colorful tolls and ponies in use in Nevada and California, even as recently as the 1980's. I wish now that I'd taken photographs of this stuff still in use. This insulator is near mint (probably some would say VNM), but I do want to point out two faults. First is a 3/8 inch pot stone bruise on the right side of the lower wire ridge. A piece of firebrick obviously was a little too close to the surface and when the glass cooled, created a small bruise on the glass surface, which can be seen but not felt. Second, there is up from the base on the right hand side a very shallow 5/16 inch flake as can be seen in the photo. And that's it. I find no other fault with this insulator. Drips are intact and there's a bit of streaking above the thread cavity in the dome. These insulators have, in years past, brought $2,500 or better. I'm offering this insulator at $1,599 that includes shipping via USPS priority mail. Here's your opportunity to obtain this rare insulator for your collection without paying the premium price of a perfectly mint one. First email stating you'd like this one takes it.
