Here are 7 AGEE faded to Gray insulators. The 4 in front still show green stripes. Based on my ICON version, working from the left, numbers 2 and 4 were closer to the pole and more sheltered from the sun, hence, more green, the other 2, further from the pole, and showing less green, and those in the background, little to no green so further still out from the pole. BTW, the green stripe is turned a 1/4 turn away from, rather than face on to the camera, to highlight the contrast That is the story I accepted early on in my introduction to Australian insulators, now that is being questioned. Were they simply the result of two colours being poured into the mould. Certainly not as interesting as the sun fading the green, and the degree of green being the result of placement on the pole.. So, do you know what happened, do you have an opinion, thoughts, do you care? If you care, please email me, let me know your thoughts. If you believe it will be of interest to ICON, by all means, share with us. I am hoping that collectors in Australia will tune in here. I am sure I do not have the only 4 Green Stripe on Gray AGEE insulators. |
