This was and still is a main north-south commuter route in a rather small town about 35 miles south of Boston. Important telegraph wires once employing threadless insulators from Boston southward went along this RR right-of-way to this community. From there telegraphic connections split in several directions from Middleboro... including to Plymouth, MA, Cape Cod, and Providence, RI and other destinations within the Western Union Web. The station no longer stands.
