Most likely this wiring was for electric lighting circuits including current to the gooseneck incandescent streetlight seen on this rather interesting pole. A lighting service transformer for adjacent customers is also seen. It is mounted immediately beneath the lowermost crossarm and provided 110 volts to subscribers via 1,100 or 2,200 volt primary.
