Many of the insulators seen were transpositions, notably on the uppermost crossarms. Possibly these insulators were for wires coming in opposite direction, dead-ending upon each insulator. From there each led via a single wire with under-arm spool insulators to the wooden junction box beneath. The latter combined circuits inside for a single twisted-wire cable (along on the far left) that probably led to a nearby telephone operators' office.
